Just another Aintreedavenhill.net weblog

Congratulations Gemma!

Great news, Gemma received a certificate today in Celebration Assembly. Gemma has really settled into school well after a few weeks, she has made lots of friends and is a very pleasant girl. Her certificate was given for excellent work and becoming a lovely member of the class. Well done Gemma.

Busy week next week!

WEDNESDAY – World Maths day, don’t forget to log onto the web-site. Has anyone challanged children across the world to the maths games?

THURSDAY – World Book Day, the theme for the school this year is Traditional Storybook characters such as Red Riding Hood, Wolf from the Three Little Pigs, Three Pigs, Dwarfs from Snow White. You do not have to dress up if you do not want to but it may be good to join in with the infants!

You all worked well again this week, congratulations.
Enjoy the weekend, stay safe.

Don’t forget to log in on this web site, it’s great, you can compete against other pupils all over the world and challenge them to a competition! Have fun :-)

End of a busy half-term!

Well done to all of you in 6R for working well this half-term, it has flown over! We covered many new topics – Ancient Greece in theme, using force meters in Science, role play and playscript in Literacy, word problems, fractions and more in Maths, drama and sport in PPA afternoons plus a lot more topics. The river mobiles you created as part of your Creative homework were fantastic, they look great floating in the classroom – check out the photographs displayed in the Library. Keep up with the reading, great progress is being made with the ACR.
Also, welcome to our new class member, Gemma, I hope you have enjoyed your first week at Aintree Davenhill.
Hopefully you will have a relaxing holiday (don’t forget to have a read of you revision books!) :-)

Another COLD week!!

Well done 6R for working hard through the cold! In Science we are learning about reading force meters and newtons. Maths so far, we have reading word problems and learning how to calculate the answer. Outside the classroom some of the Fire Safety posters have been displayed, in the large hall the fantastic greek vases, that you have painted, are displayed for all to see.

What a COLD week!!!

Well done 6R, you have all worked well this week considering how cold the classroom has been this week. We have all sat with our coats on and completed all the work set, due to there being no heating in the two year 6 classes. (The rest of the school is roasting!!)
Science this week saw you all discovering the changes to tissue paper, twigs, candle wax, cake mixture and a CHOCOLATE BUTTON when heated in a tin foil dish.
Theme work this term is the Ancient Greeks, during the Literacy lesson on Tuesday you all worked well in groups, there was a Chairperson and two or three people on either side representing Sparta or Athens. Which place was the best? David and Ellen were excellent Chairpersons in their groups they kept their group motivated and moved them on with a leading question. Good work to the other groups too, Mrs Richards and I enjoyed listening to you all. Keep up the fantastic work.
During PPA on Thursday, Team Theme came to teach you Dodgeball. I was sorry I missed it, I had to stay with Year 5 for their PPA afternoon as the SAMBA teacher had cancelled.
Hope you all have had a fantstic weekend, keep up the good work. See you and Mrs Richards on Monday. (Lets hope it is a bit warmer in the classroom)
Mrs Hardwick :-)
